Christian Schurlein appointed new managing director of Tradegate Exchange GmbH
Christian Schürlein has been appointed new managing director of Berlin-based Tradegate Exchange GmbH, the operating company of the public-law stock exchange, Tradegate Exchange. Schürlein (41) had been at Deutsche Börse since 2007, where he was responsible for coordinating post-trade activities. Prior to that, he was a financial services consultant at Accenture for ten years.
"Tradegate has a
convincing offering for private investors. It has successfully
expanded its position as a retail exchange in the last few years
based on extended trading hours and order types that appeal to
private investors. Long and secure availability of the trading
offering is key, particularly in volatile market phases, in order
for private investors to trade at attractive prices at any time.
I will use my new role to reinforce Tradegate's position," said
Schürlein.
The previous managing
director of Tradegate Exchange GmbH, Jochen Thiel, is leaving the
company to pursue new opportunities. "We would like to thank
Jochen Thiel for his dedication over the years. He was
instrumental in the transition of Tradegate Exchange to a
public-law - and established - stock exchange," said Frank
Gerstenschläger, shareholder representative at Deutsche
Börse and Holger Timm shareholder representative at
Tradegate AG.
Deutsche Börse
AG acquired a 75-percent interest plus 1 share in Tradegate
Exchange GmbH, the stock exchange operator, in 2010. Deutsche
Börse AG also holds a 5-percent stake in Tradegate AG
Wertpapierhandelsbank, one of the specialists on the Tradegate
Exchange.
