BATS Chi-X share in Europe exceeds 25 percent

BATS Chi-X says it has more than a quarter of the pan-European market, with market share increases from both the previous month and the year-earlier total.


London - BATS Chi-X Europe said it now has more than a quarter of the pan-European market as market share climbed to 25.1 percent from 24.6 percent in April and 22.8% a year earlier on a pro forma basis.

It highlighted continued gains in the Spanish market, which was only 1.5 percent a year earlier and has now climbed to 5.8 percent as of May.

"May marked another month of market share growth for our U.S. and European equities markets with our U.S. equities market share reaching 11.7 percent, our fourth best month on record," said Joe Ratterman, president and chief executive officer of BATS Global Markets.

"While the global economic environment remains challenging, we continue to focus on delivering outstanding market quality for all of our market participants. We also remain focused on building upon the success of our core businesses and looking for new opportunities to grow our business in the months ahead."
