June 3rd, 2008 - Appro will demonstrate performance acceleration of a full double-precision floating point Monte Carlo financial simulation analys is at the SIFMA Technology Management Conference in New York, NY, June 10-12, booth 3105.
Geno Valente, Vice President Xtreme Data: "Monte Carlo simulation consists of Pathway Generation/Evaluation, and Expectation/Computation."
This demonstration combines the Intel QuickAssist Technology, Appro's high performance HyperServer based on Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors, XtremeData's XD2000 family of In-Socket Accelerators (ISA), and the new XtremeRNG library of building blocks for random number generation (RNG) to significantly accelerate financial and scientific Monte Carlo applications. The XD2000 provides application acceleration over 10X versus single-precision only GPUs, while simultaneously reducing overall system power consumption, maintaining support for error correction codes, and offering full support for double-precision math.
"Appro is working closely with XtremeData to jointly reach the double-precision floating point capabilities of high performance FPGAs", said John Lee, VP of advanced technology solutions of Appro. "This technology addresses many financial customers' requests for a cost-effective solution that offers configuration flexibility and performance gains using FPGA-based systems."
"Monte Carlo simulation consists of Pathway Generation/Evaluation, and Expectation/Computation," said Geno Valente, vice president of sales and marketing at XtremeData Inc. "Combining Appro Hyperservers, Intel QuickAssist Technology and the XD2000i In-Socket Accelerator, XtremeData demonstrates that source code written within the Intel QuickAssist Technology abstraction framework can be re-targeted between the CPU and the FPGA without modifying the original source code, enabling rapid development of financial IT applications."
Dylan Larson, Director, Intel Corporation: "The demonstration of Monte Carlo simulation on the Appro HyperServer series using XtremeData XD2000i Accelerator with the support of Intel QuickAssist Technology showcases a powerful FPGA co-processing solution for innovating on Intel Xeon processor-based platforms."
