AMSTERDAM--U.S. company Apple Inc. (AAPL.AE) must pay damages to Samsung Electronics Co. (005930.SE) for breaching certain patents that belong to the Korean firm in smartphones and tablet computers, a Dutch court ruled in the Hague Wednesday.
The court ordered that within two months, an independent accountant has to make a list of the amount of patent-breaching products sold by Apple in the Netherlands since Aug. 4, 2010, as well as the revenue and profit that Apple made from them. On that basis, the amount of compensation will be determined.
