Publicis Buys UK Digital Agency Airlock

PARIS -(Dow Jones)- French advertising company Publicis Groupe SA (PUB.FR) Thursday said it has acquired London-based digital engagement agency Airlock for an undisclosed sum as the group seeks to boost its digital activities in the U.K.

MAIN FACTS:

- The Airlock brand will become part of Publicis's Leo Burnett group in the U.K.

- Airlock is the second digital acquisition for Leo Burnett in 2011, and follows last month's acquisition of agency Holler. It is the latest in a series of U.K.-based digital acquisitions, which have included the purchase of agencies Chemistry and Kitcatt.

- According to forecasts from Publicis unit ZenithOptimedia, internet ad spending in the U.K. is predicted to increase by 7.3% in 2011.

- No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
