LONDON -(Dow Jones)- Italian oil company Eni SpA (E, ENI.MI) hasn't shipped any oil cargoes from Libya for several days and expects to fully shut down its oil production in the country within a few days, Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni said Thursday.

Eni's refining operations haven't been significantly affected by the shut-down of its Libyan output because its Mediterranean refineries buy only a small proportion of the company's total production, Scaroni told reporters at a London press conference.

Much of Eni's Libyan output is sold on to other parties, so there is no big gap to fill, he said.

Eni will abide by any E.U. sanctions if they were to prohibit the purchase of Libyan crude, he added.
