Telstra Corp.'s (TLS.AU) Hong Kong unit, CSL Ltd., SmarTone Telecommunications Holdings Ltd. (0315.HK) and Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Ltd. (0215.HK) said Tuesday they will launch Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) iPhone 4 handset in Hong Kong on Friday.

The companies didn't provide details about pricing.

Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings, which is controlled by Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, said in June it would offer iPhone 4 handsets in Hong Kong and Macau in the coming months.

Apple launched the latest version of its high-end handset on June 24 in the U.S. and said it would be available in key markets during the summer. The new phone features a number of improvements on its predecessor, the iPhone 3GS, including a better camera, sharper display and a more powerful battery.

Separately, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (Z74.SG) Tuesday said it will launch the iPhone 4 in Singapore on July 30, joining rivals Starhub Ltd. (CC3.SG) and M1 Ltd. (B24.SG) to offer the smartphone on Friday.

Some iPhone 4 users have complained about reduced signal strength when they hold the touch-screen phone in a certain way, leading to dropped calls.
