MILAN -(Dow Jones)- The owners of Ducati are considering an initial public offering, or IPO, for the Italian motorcycle maker in the second half of the year, a spokesman for one of the owners said Monday.
"We're considering an IPO in Hong Kong," a spokesman for investIndustrial told Dow Jones Newswires.
Apart from the timing of the IPO, the comment confirms a report in the Financial Times newspaper published earlier in the day.
The report said the owners, which also include BS Private Equity and Hospital of Ontario Pension Plan, would also consider selling Ducati to a single buyer if the price is right.
The owners aim to get up to EUR1 billion for Ducati.
Deutsche Bank AG (DBK.XE), Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS) and Banca IMI of Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (ISP.MI) are the joint global coordinators for the possible listing, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Ducati is known for its premium and professional racing bikes.
The Financial Times cites Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE), BMW AG (BMW.XE) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (500520.BY) as possible buyers.
