TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Taiwanese top liquid-crystal-display maker Chimei Innolux Corp. (3481.TW) said Friday it appointed Chief Executive Tuan Hsing-chien as its new chairman, effective immediately.

The previous chairman, Liao Ching-hisang, resigned in December due to deteriorating health.

Last month, Chimei Innolux, the world's third-largest maker of LCD panels by revenue after Samsung Electronics Co. (SSNHY, 005930.SE) and LG Display Co. (LPL, 034220.SE), secured a deal with its creditor banks to lower the interest-rate premium charged on a rollover of the company's massive debt.
