NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- New central bank borrowings from the Federal Reserve's dollar liquidity swap facility were $876 million in the week ending Wednesday.

Total borrowings for the week stood at $31.97 billion, from $32.37 billion the week before.

The Fed's facility allows the world's major central banks to borrow dollars to ensure the continued availability of greenbacks in world financial markets. Borrowings increased in recent months as Europe's ongoing problems have unsettled financial markets, but interest in the facility has declined in recent weeks.
