LONDON -(Dow Jones)- British American Tobacco PLC (BATS.LN), an international tobacco group, said Wednesday it purchased 300,000 of its ordinary shares of 25 pence each, to hold in treasury.

MAIN FACTS:

-The average price was 3,098.1107 pence per share.

-The highest price paid was 3,133 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 3,074.5 pence per share.

-Following the purchase of these shares, the company holds 66,393,062 of its shares in treasury.

-British American Tobacco shares closed Wednesday at 3119.0 pence, valuing the company at GBP60.97 billion.
