OCTOBER CONSTRUCTION SPENDING DOWN 1.2%; AUGUST, SEPTEMBER DATA UPWARDLY REVISED

Total Construction Spending was down 1.2% in October, a bigger fall than expected, and the largest drop since July. The September number, originally a drop of 0.3%, was revised to unchanged from August. Also, the August figure was upwardly adjusted to show an increase of 2.4% (originally a 0.3% rise). October Private Construction fell 2% after an upwardly adjusted 0.4% rise prior. Residential Construction tumbled 3.5% (0.5% drop prior) while Nonresidential Construction fell 0.7% (1.1% increase previous). Public Construction rose 0.7% in October with State and Local Construction up 0.3% and Federal Construction jumping 5.5%. click here to return to the top of the page
