The number of unemployed is set to accelerate in the UK in February. Analysts are pencilling in an 87,000 increase on average in the claimant count, following a 73,800 rise in January.
"Employment intentions indicators deteriorated sharply in Q4 (and have continued to deteriorate this quarter)," said Carlos Caceres, economist at Morgan Stanley.
In January, the claimant count -- the government's preferred measure of unemployment -- stood at 1.23 million. However, economists are looking for another measure of unemployment, ILO, to hit the key 2mln mark.
Earnings growth, including bonuses, is expected to dwindle further to 3% in the three months to January, from 3.2% in the quarter to December.Earnings excluding bonuses are set to rise 3.4%.
