  • Stimulus Vote in Senate Might be Closer Than ExpectedPosted:09/07/2009 19:32 GMT by NeedToKnowNews
Congress is scheduled to vote on the compromise Stimulus proposal today. The House is expected to pass it easily, while the Senate vote might be a squeaker. 60 'yes' votes are required for passage. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) will be absent from the vote, taking away the one-vote edge that passed the plan the first time around. In addition, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) -- another affirmative vote -- is said to be rushing back to Washington from a personal matter. Any delay in his travel is expected to delay the vote. While the Senate is expected to pass the measure by this weekend, according to sources, Senator Reid is concerned about the thin margin. He is trying to court additional moderate Republican voters and bring them on board.
