  The December Empire State Manufacturing Index is expected at -26 from a record low -25.4 in November. The November New Orders Index hit an all-time low -22.21 compared to-20.45 in October and the Shipments Index decreased to a record low -13.89 from -8.85 previous. The November Prices Paid Index dropped to 20.48 from 31.71 in October, while Prices Received dropped to 6.02 from 20.73 in October. The November Employment Index came in at -28.92 while the Workweek Index registered -25.30. Future Business Conditions fell to 13.02 from 24.16 in September. The Empire FED Index is the first of 4 major manufacturing reports published each month and therefore is very difficult to predict. It will set the stage for other major manufacturing data in the month, including ISM manufacturing, Chicago PMI and the Philly Fed Index.
