Energies Close

Energies finished mixed with Crude down 5.7% to 63.91, Unleaded tumbling 8.7% to 136.60, Heating Oil plunging 4.8% to 194.44. Natural Gas rose 0.8% to 6.838. Crude sold off overnight and traded in negative territory for the entire floor session. It attempted to rally late in the morning but it could not break through resistance at 67. Sellers outnumbered buyers for the rest of the day, and Crude closed at lows. Both Unleaded and Heating Oil exhibited similar trading patterns to Crude. They attempted to rally around 11am, but sold off the rest of the day to finish at lows. Natural Gas was also lower overnight, but rallied throughout the floor session. It shot into positive territory with a late day surge but did not challenge its 21-day moving average of 6.8624.

Energies Close

Energies finished significantly higher with Crude up 3% to 67.95, Unleaded rising 4.3% to 153, Heating Oil adding 3.8% to 206 and Natural Gas jumping 5.8% to 6.799. Crude sold off overnight before forming a triple bottom around 63.25. It started to rally in the run up to the NYMEX open and continued to rise during the floor session. Crudeâ��s rally was eventually halted at 65.50 and looked to be consolidating back down at 64. But in the last half hour of the day, Crude shot up $4, moved into positive territory and hit new highs in the process. Unleaded and Heating Oil displayed similar trading patterns to Crude and their late day rallies sent them above the 150 and 200 levels, respectively. Natural Gas traded in positive territory for most of the floor session but looked to have trouble breaking through resistance at 6.535. In fact, it retreated back to yesterdayâ��s close (6.431), before a surge of buying sent it to new highs on the close.
